Committee Announcement
You will be aware that since the appointment of a new Committee to SIDC in late 2010 and our first AGM since 2006 back in April that a considerable amount of time and effort has gone into stabilising the Club for the future. This has been achieved through a variety of cost saving measures which have at times been both time consuming and extremely difficult to action. However, during this process the full Committee has met on a regular basis to ensure that these actions have been agreed by all involved and every single Committee member has also had their part to play in moving this forward.
The Committee is now happy to announce that the worst of this is now behind us and the Club can start to build again for the future, we have therefore agreed to start to use some freed up Club funds to purchase new promotional materials, merchandise for sale via the shop and on items to promote the Club at future events.
In addition to this and as part of the continued improvements being made to the already award winning Club magazine-True Grip we have now agreed for the magazine to be hosted on its own dedicated website. Our magazine Editor Stu Mason with the assistance of our very own Rachel Keir now have a full team of people working to ensure that True Grip is both a first class read for our members but also has the opportunity to generate some additional funds for the Club through advertising and sponsorship.
Within the Committee there have been some changes in circumstances in relation to life away from SIDC since last year and at a meeting on Monday evening the full Committee agreed that in an effort to help the individuals concerned, whilst still enabling them to continue to play an important role within the Committee, that we should reallocate duties and roles within the Club.
What is now being proposed, with the full agreement of those involved, is that our current Chairman-Robert Allan would take on the role of PR & Sponsorship Coordinator, an area which Robert himself agrees he particularly enjoys and the Chairman’s role would be filled by long standing Committee member Kim French. It’s a role which Kim feels she has the time, energy and enthusiasm for and knowing Kim’s significant involvement in the Club over the last few years who are we to disagree!
The entire Committee is behind these changes which we feel will enable the Club to flourish again at a national level and hopes that all members will fully endorse these changes, support these Committee members in their new roles and the rest of the Committee in their ongoing efforts to run the Club on your behalf.
Yours in SIDC
Gus Duncan (Gus the Bus)
Vice-Chairman
